Science guy 'Nitro Joe' expected to fill Du Quoin City Hall on Thursday

The Du Quoin Public Library and Pam Collins of the John A. Logan College Extension Center will host the Nitro Joe Science Show at Du Quoin city hall on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m.

Mark your calendar because it will be an outstanding show.

Children and adults alike will be amazed by the impressive science experiments in this show. Nitro Joe will use different gases to demonstrate physical and chemical changes. Balloons will explode, potions will change color, bubbles will flow and creeping fog will cover the floor. Students will be more excited about science than ever.

"I first started doing science shows back in 1987 at the St. Louis Science Center. I was only 14 years old, but I was excited about the opportunity to show children and adults how fun science could be. After three years at the Science Center, and another five years managing an international science enrichment franchise, I still love showing children and adults how much fun general science is to learn. Once you see the look in the faces of children, when they see educational science come to life, you'll understand why I do science assemblies all over the Midwest," Joe says.

This ephemeral and billowing show allows students to understand just how real air really is. Nitro Joe will use air pressure will be used to crush objects and move things around. Bernoulli's Principle will be demonstrated by making toilet paper fly and by creating Tornado Donuts.

The show will help students understand that magic tricks are just unexplained science experiments. Things will appear to disappear right before the children's eyes. Impressive, controlled explosions will dazzle the audience and keep them talking for days.
