Terry Lee Fritts of Harrisburg

Terry Lee Fritts, age 76 of Harrisburg, passed away at 7:26 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Harrisburg Medical Center, surrounded by his family.

Terry was born on July 25, 1944 in Harrisburg to the late William T. and Ina (Harris) Fritts. On July 19, 1968 he married Norma Jean Anderson and she survives in Harrisburg. Terry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. In 1996 he received his associate degree in Tool and Manufacturing Technology from Southern Illinois University.

Terry was a welder by trade and worked for Sahara Coal Co. He later worked in maintenance at the United Enrichment Plant in Paducah, Kentucky and he owned his own welding shop, Terry's Welding, for many years. He was a good Christian man who had a strong faith and served as a deacon at Pankeyville Baptist Church.

Terry loved to deer hunt, fish, and was a jack of all trades. Family was very important to him, and he loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Terry is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Fritts of Harrisburg; two daughters, Terra McGowen and husband, Sam of Harrisburg and Trisha Wright of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Dakota McGowen and wife, Alysha of Harrisburg, Makayla McGowen of Harrisburg, Bailee Wright of Harrisburg and Madisyn Wright of Harrisburg; two great-grandchildren, Koltin McGowen and Brody McGowen, both of Harrisburg, and one on the way, due Christmas Day, 2021; cousin, Phyllis Harris of Harrisburg; and best friends, Deon Wallace and Beverly Russell of Harrisburg. Funeral services for Terry Lee Fritts will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Donnie Hughes and the Rev. Ernie Fowler will officiate and burial will follow at Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Army National Guard and the Marion VFW/American Legion Ritual Team.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Reed Funeral Chapel.
