Daniel G. Carter, formerly of Du Quoin
Daniel G. Carter, 47, of Springfield, passed away at 8:35 a.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Memorial Medical Center.
Dan was born on Feb. 20, 1974 in Fremont, California, the son of Larry D. and Barbara Carter. He married Anne Seraphia Campbell on Oct. 19, 2002, in Chatham, Illinois.
Dan graduated from Du Quoin High School and earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from SIU Carbondale. He was employed with the Illinois State Police for 24 years.
Dan was a member of First United Methodist Church in Du Quoin, St. Joseph the Worker Church in Chatham, and the Fraternal Order of Police. He was outgoing and lived life to the fullest, was creative, and treasured the friendships he made throughout the years. Dan enjoyed tropical vacations with his wife and daughters, yoga, and riding motorcycles.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Dan is survived by his wife, Anne Carter of Springfield; daughters, Jillian and Addison Carter; father, Larry Carter of Thayer; siblings, David (Charise) Carter of Pawnee and Kerry (Stacy) Maguire of Belleville; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dogs, Princess Fiona, Stella and Lola.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
A Memorial Ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 12, 2021, at Prairie View Reception Center, 8865 State Route 4, in Chatham. The Rev. Donald Pritchard, the Illinois State Police chaplain, will officiate. A Memorial Gathering will follow until 6 p.m. The Illinois State Police will hold a First Responder walk-through at 5 p.m.
