Obit for Betty "Beth" Roane Gruenewald

BETTY "BETH" ROANE GRUENEWALD, 65, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 11:15 pm, Friday, January 29, 2016 at Memorial Hospital in Chester.

Beth was born to Earl Wm. Sr. and Betty J. (nee: Smith) Haferkamp on October 30, 1950 in St. Louis, Mo.

Beth married Kenneth Gruenewald on July 1, 1972 in St Louis. He survives.

In December of 1979 she and Kenneth moved to Chester to help with a dry cleaning business run by her parents.

Beth became a member of the First Baptist Church in Chester and was a member until her last day.

Beth was an active member in church life, often working with the youth programs, the WMU and local scouting.

Survivors include her Husband Kenneth Gruenewald; Mother Betty J. Haferkamp; 2 Sons Kenneth (Kendra) Gruenewald and Christopher (Christy) Gruenewald; 6 Grandchildren Elizabeth Joy Gruenewald, Alexander Michael Gruenewald, Lauryn Michelle Gruenewald, Jaiden Faythe Gruenewald, Kaleb Earl Gruenewald and Emily Nicole Gruenewald; 4 Siblings Nancy (Robert) Hinkel, Earl Jr. (Irene) Haferkamp, George (Veronica) Haferkamp and John (Shelly) Haferkamp; Many Nieces, Nephews and Friends.

Preceded in death by: Father - Earl Wm. Haferkamp, Sr. and 1 Niece - Jessica Haferkamp.

It was Beth's wish to be cremated.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday February 6, 2016 at First Baptist Church, Chester, IL

Visitation will take place on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Chester with Dr. Mike Fogerson officiating.

Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church Remodeling Fund.
