Donald E. Shockley of Du Quoin

Donald E. Shockley Sr., 82, of Du Quoin, passed away at 3:50 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020 at the Deaconess-Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

Donald had been a repairman for Arch of Illinois Coal Mine and was a member of the UMWA. He was of the Baptist faith and was a United States Navy veteran.

He was born Feb. 13, 1938 at Du Quoin, Illinois, the son of Ralph and Lois (Sronce) Shockley.

He married Terry Ann Newton on Dec. 2, 1972 at Columbia, Illinois and she preceded him in death on March 12, 2015.

He is survived by one daughter, Donna Lively of Du Quoin; two sons, Donnie (Alisha) Shockley Jr. of Pinckneyville and Jason Shockley of Christopher; four grandchildren, Meagan Lively, Karli Shockley, Ian Shockley and Syaria Harmon; two brothers, David (Ann) Shockley of Cordova, Tennessee and Ralph (Tannya) Shockley of Du Quoin; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Private family visitation will be held.

Military graveside rites will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 21, 2020 at the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin with the Du Quoin V.F.W. chaplain officiating. The Du Quoin V.F.W., American Legion and the United States Navy will conduct the military graveside rite.

Everyone in attendance is required to wear a mask, and is asked to observe social distancing guidelines.

Friends are invited to make memorials to the Perry County Humane Society, which will be accepted at the funeral home.
