Ruby S. Eggemeyer, 92, of Chester, passed away at 9:20 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018 at Three Springs in Chester.
Ruby was born on April 28, 1926, in Campbell Hill, the daughter of William and Clara (Gerlach) Middendorf. On May 24, 1947, she married Delbert F. Eggemeyer, the ceremony was officiated in Campbell Hill. They shared 37 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on July 1, 1984.
Ruby was retired from Gilster Mary Lee in Chester, and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Chester and VFW Auxiliary Post #3553.
Ruby's pleasures in life were playing music and dancing. The instruments played were the accordion, organ and piano. She played at various places to share her love for music with others. One band she played in was "The Old Timers Band." She was accompanied by her close friend, Frank Deleveski.
Ruby was a beloved mom, grandmother, and great grandmother. She never hesitated when it came to helping others. She was loved by many and will be missed dearly by all.
Ruby is survived by four sons, Darrel (Margaret), Larry (Cindy), Lorin (Sandy) and Joey (Julie) Eggemeyer; nine grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
Ruby was preceded in death by two children, Ronald "Kramer" Gene Eggemeyer and Linda Kay Eggemeyer; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Bendorf and Jay (Amy) Schamburg; four brothers, Herman, Albert, LeRoy and Lawrence Middendorf; and three sisters, Emma Rathert, Stella Rubach and Lillian Casten.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 6 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill, with Rev. Dennis Scoville officiating. Burial will be at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
