Rodney Earl Eggemeyer of Chester

Rodney Earl Eggemeyer Sr., 88, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 4:18 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020 at Three Springs Lodge Nursing Home in Chester.

He was born to the late Isaac and Mary (nee Roche) Eggemeyer on Oct. 25, 1931 in Chester.

Rodney married Martha Fern Guethle on Feb. 9, 1952 at Zion Lutheran Church in Walsh, Illinois; she preceded him in death on Nov. 19, 2010.

Rodney was a welder for A.O. Smith and the Laborer's Local #925 in Chester for more than 50 years.

He was of Lutheran faith. Rodney enjoyed hunting and fishing and playing cards. He also loved to play his guitar and sing and dance.

He is survived by his nine children, Brenda (Clinton) Gross of Chester, Rodney "Buzz" Eggemeyer Jr. (Brenda Zeidler) of Chester, Annie (Wayne) Korando of Chester, Tammy (Vince) Bert of Chester, Sheri (Larry) Asselmeier of Chester, Nelson (Marlene) Eggemeyer of Ellis Grove, Barb (Bob) Misuraca of Chester, Rhonda (David) Bixby of Chester and Todd (Mary) Eggemeyer of Ellis Grove.

He is also survived by four siblings, Herbert Eggemeyer of Walsh, Sam (Millie) Eggemeyer of Walsh, Jean Rahn of Ellis Grove and Cara Nell Wright of Sparta; two brothers-in-law, Russell Guethle and Mike Hathaway; 27 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and many many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a brother, Roger Eggemeyer; a sister, Rosie Sellers and one great-granddaughter, Rhonny McCormick.

A private funeral service for family only will be held at Pechacek Funeral Homes on Saturday, Oct. 10 with Rev. Tom Klausing officiating.

Public visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday and 7:30-9:30 a.m. on Saturday at Pechacek Funeral Homes.

Following the funeral, a public interment will be held at Paradise Cemetery in Steeleville, Illinois.

Pechacek is limited to 25 people in their building at a time. They request that social distancing be enforced and for everyone in attendance to wear a mask.
