Ethel M. McMahan

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Ethel M. McMahan, 93, of Vergennes, died at 6:58 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, 2012 in Du Quoin.

Ethel was born May 2, 1919 in Vergennes Township, Ill., a daughter to the late William and Sophronia (Porter) Parrish. Ethel was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Vergennes; she was a member of White Shrine. She was a homemaker and an undergraduate nurse. Ethel was united in marriage to Lawrence B. "Mac" McMahan on Dec. 24, 1940 in Farmington, Mo.; Mac preceded her in death on June 16, 1997.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Vergennes; burial will follow at Parrish Cemetery near Vergennes. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro and from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church, the Parrish Cemetery Association or the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and David King of Greensboro, Ga.; one son and daughter-in-law, William and Carol McMahan of Baton Rouge, La.; six granddaughters, Lori McMahan Jurewicz, Terri McMahan Michael, Jennifer Price Barker, Sandra Dunn Paulson, Jami King, Dr. Jessica Price Heuer; two grandsons, Joseph Price and Scott McMahan and 12 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Dunn; one grandson, Gregory Dunn; three brothers, Joe, Howard and Charles Parrish; two sisters, Gertrude Coffer, Beulah Doolin and two infant sisters, Opal and Mary Parrish.
