Harry J. 'Skip' Brown of Du Quoin
Harry J. "Skip" Brown, 88, of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:32 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2018 at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Skip received his bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and Industrial Design from University of Illinois in 1957. He was Vice President of Design at the Strombecker Corp. in Chicago. He also designed for Artline in Chicago. Skip was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was born Nov. 12, 1929 at Centralia, IL, the son of C.D. and Marguerite (Taylor) Brown.
He married Aleda D. Hofstetter on June 28, 1958 at Centralia, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife, of Du Quoin; two sons, Michael (Renee) Brown of Lake In The Hills, IL and Gregory (Sabrina) Brown of Frisco, TX; one granddaughter, McKenna Brown, attending the University of Texas in San Antonio; two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Morris of Du Quoin and Beverly Hunter of Highland Park, IL; two brothers-in-law, Wayne (Sue) Hofstetter of Highland, IL and Fred Schaefer of St. Louis, MO; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Fr. Joseph Oganda officiating.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Sacred Heart Cemetery, which will be accepted at the funeral home.
