Flowers and flags atop the gravesite of Joseph James Cicardi (1932-2016) of Du Quoin and Pinckneyville. Cicardi, a Navy veteran, served in Korea aboard the destroyer USS Douglas H. Fox.
Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery has about 800 veterans buried there. According to Shirley K. Degenhardt's 2000 history of the cemetery, Sunset Memorial was organized early in 1938 and dedicated on Memorial Day of that year.

Keagan Danner places a flag on the grave of Ralph Fisher (1916-1984), a World War II U.S. Army veteran. Fisher enlisted in the Army in Chicago in May 1942 and was discharged in October 1945. He moved to Du Quoin in 1972 and is buried in Sunset Park Cemetery.
