Eugenia 'Jean' E. Reid of Rockwood

Eugenia "Jean" E. Reid, 96, of Rockwood, Illinois, passed away at 6:29 p.m., Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Memorial Hospital in Chester, Illinois.

She was born to Jesse and Maggie (nee Lorentz) Stanley on Feb. 26, 1922, in Rockwood.

She married John Russel "Bissell" Reid on Oct. 8, 1938 in Perryville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1999.

Jean was an assembler at the International Shoe Factory.

She was a member of the Rockwood Presbyterian Church, the Royal Neighbors of America, the Ladies VFW Auxiliary and the Eagles.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Alice Reid, of Rockwood; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband John "Bissell" Reid, brothers Harry, James and Isaac, and sisters, Jewell, Hazel, Dailey and Anna.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 29 at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, in Chester. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, also at the funeral home. The Rev. Cecil Dunning will officiate.

She will be interred at Mount Summit Cemetery, in Rockwood. Memorials are welcome to Mount Summit Cemetery, or to any charity of the donor's choice.
