Charles Everett Huite of Du Quoin

Charles Everett Huite, 86, of Du Quoin, passed away at noon on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Chuck had been an equipment operator at Freeman United Coal Company. He was a member of the Sunfield Baptist Church and was the oldest deacon of the church. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Chuck was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.

He was born Aug. 5, 1931 at Du Quoin, the son of George and Mary (Macke) Huite.

He married Wanda J. Spangler on Nov. 15, 1952 at Piggott, Arkansas and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin; son Charles David (Cindy) Huite of Du Quoin; brother Richard (Nellie) Huite of Belleville; three sisters, Ruby (Kenny) Stacey, Elsie (Richard) Bishop, and Mary Ellen (Joe) Summers, all of Du Quoin; four grandchildren, Joshua (Amanda) Huite, Matthew Huite, Alicia (David) Coates and Alex (Bridgette) Liggett; three great-grandchildren, Johnaton Coates, Jordan Coates and Raylynn Liggett.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Pat Trefenbach; and three brothers, Carl Dean Huite, George Huite and Donnie Huite.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with the Rev. Ted Clark officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion and the U.S. Air Force.

Friends may make memorials to the Sunfield Baptist Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, both of which will be accepted at the funeral home.
