Perry County COVID-19 cases number 42; three are active

The Perry County Health Department had no new cases of COVID-19 reported on Monday, which leaves the total number of positive cases here at 42.

Of those 42, only three are currently considered active cases, while 39 patients have recovered and been released from isolation

Perry County has had 712 negative test results.

Nearby, Randolph County's caseload has risen to 271 overall with four deaths. Of those, 11 patients are considered active cases with one of them hospitalized.

Elsewhere in southern Illinois, Jackson County has reported a total of 289 cases and 10 deaths, while Union County cases have increased to 155, with 11 deaths.

Jefferson County is reporting 101 cases and 16 deaths. Williamson County has 67 cases with two deaths; Pulaski County had 56 cases; Washington had 18 and Franklin had 12.

Alexander County reports eight cases; Johnson hs nine; Massac and Saline counties report seven apiece; Gallatin, Hamilton and White counties have two each; and Hardin and Pope counties each have one.

Nearer to St. Louis, St. Clair County is reporting 1,152 cases and 82 deaths, while Monroe County has 96 cases and 12 deaths.

The health department asks that residents protect themselves and others by staying home as much as possible. Continue social distancing of 6 feet or more, avoid large groups or gatherings of people, wash your hands frequently, and use a cloth face coverings in community settings.
