Marshall Browning adds orthopedic clinic starting in June
Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin in June will add an Orthopedic Clinic to its growing list of specialty clinics.
The new clinic will be headed up by Dr. Haines Paik, a board-certified, fellowship-trained trauma and total joint surgeon. He recently joined The Orthopaedic Institute of Southern Illinois in Herrin and will begin seeing patients at Marshall Browning Hospital on the second and fourth Fridays of each month beginning June 11.
Dr. Paik is originally from Chicago. He earned both his undergraduate and Doctor of Medicine degrees from the University of Missouri. He went on to complete his internship and surgical residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
He initially began seeing patients on a per diem basis in 2017 while finishing his military service at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. After serving in the U.S. Army as a surgeon for 14 years, he is now ready to serve the close-knit communities of Southern Illinois.
Dr. Paik specializes in anterior total hip replacement, uni-compartmental knee replacement, as well as complex revisions of total joint replacement.
He will treat patients for a wide variety of sports injuries and general orthopedic conditions, including ACL reconstructive surgery, carpal tunnel release, disorders of the elbow (e.g., tennis elbow and golfer's elbow), disorders of the hand and wrist, total hip, knee, shoulder and ankle arthroscopy, total and partial knee replacement, knee replacement revisions, rotator cuff surgery, shoulder fracture and dislocation treatment, and trigger finger release. Dr. Paik will perform surgeries at Marshall Browning Hospital, as well as the Orthopaedic Institute of Southern Illinois and other area hospitals.
When not treating patients, Dr. Paik enjoys CrossFit® workouts, traveling the world, and spending time on the shooting range.
"We are very excited to bring high-quality, personalized orthopedic care to patients in Perry County," said Marshall Browning CEO Dan Eaves. "Dr. Paik is a very experienced, board-certified orthopedic surgeon. He shares our philosophy in providing compassionate care to our community. Patients will have access to orthopedic surgeries that they may have previously had to travel out of town to receive."
