150 active cases of COVID-19 in county

According to the Randolph County Health Department, as of Monday there are currently 150 active cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 10 new cases reported Monday, 8 new cases Sunday, 31 new cases Saturday and 18 new cases Friday.

Of the 150 active cases, 149 individuals are recovering at home with just one person hospitalized.

So far during the pandemic, 1,273 people have been released to resume normal activity and 18 people have died. There have been 1,441 confirmed cases.

A total of 16,775 tests have been performed, with 15,334 negative test results.

Randolph County has a positivity rate of 11.1% for the seven-day period of Oct. 18 to Oct. 24.

Region 4, which includes Bond, Clinton, Madison, Monroe, Randolph, St. Clair and Washington counties, has a 9.7% positivity rate as of Friday, Oct. 30, and remains under mitigation measures. By Thursday, all of Illinois will be under some type of restriction.

Current Tier 1 restrictions in Region 4 include a ban on indoor service at bars and restaurants, and limits of social gatherings to 25 people or 25% of a facility's capacity. These mitigations do not currently apply to schools.

Gov. J.B. Pritzker's mitigation plan calls for increased restrictions, called Tier 2, if rates of positive COVID-19 test results and hospital admissions don't decline after two weeks of Tier 1 restrictions in those regions. Region 4 has been under mitigation efforts since Oct. 28.

If imposed, the next tier of restrictions would mean outdoor seating at bars and restaurants would be limited to six people per group. Social gatherings would be limited to 10 people for indoor and outdoor events. Sporting and recreational events would see limits on group and spectator sizes.

Dr. Ngozi Ezike, head of the Illinois Department of Public Health, said the only way regions can avoid further restrictions is to maintain social distance, wear masks, wash hands and limit interactions with others to drive down caseloads.
