The Friday night lights at W.O. Smith Field honor seniors, first responders

Chester's senior athletes won't get their chance to shine this spring, but on Friday nights they are at least being honored under the lights of W.O. Smith Field.

As part of "Be The Light" campaign, schools across southern Illinois are turning on the lights at their respective playing field at 8:20 (20:20 military time) to recognize all seniors, as well as healthcare workers, first responders and essential workers.

Also called "Lights For the Fight" schools will continue to honor all those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic by turning the lights on for 20 minutes each Friday for the next several weeks.
