Flag Day in Chester
American flags are flown in Chester for all patriotic holidays, and are made possible by members of the Chester Boy Scouts who take responsibility for distributing and collecting almost 100 flags that beautify the city.
The Flag Project was created by two Chester Eagle Scouts, Kyle Mathis and Jeffery Beers, who used the endeavor as part of their Eagle Scout requirements. Mathis initiated the project in 2005 when he made flags available throughout the first half of the city.
Beers completed the project in 2010 when he took the project throughout the remainder of the city streets to the Randolph County Courthouse.
