FFA Week delayed until mid-March
After the recent remote learning due to weather, the celebration of FFA Week 2021 at Du Quoin High School has been postponed until March 15-22, which is National Ag Week. The idea is to let students get back to a normal schedule now that they are back on their A/B schedule. Stay tuned for updates to the schedule of activities.
8th grade promotion tentatively set
The 8th grade promotion ceremony has tentatively been set for Friday, May 28, Principal Aaron Hill has announced. The date could still be shifted if there are more weather-related closures or COVID-19-related issues. "At this time, we expect to be able to hold a traditional ceremony for our students," Hill wrote to parents, "although the number of spectators may be limited depending on what phase of COVID-19 restrictions we are under at that time." The ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Du Quoin High School football field.
Hill said that in order to be part of the ceremony, each eighth-grader must meet the promotion criteria at the time of the ceremony. Students who will be required to attend summer school in order to promote to high school will not participate, he said. Hill said he will pass along more information as it becomes available.
