Rev. James E. Williams Jr. of Harrisburg

Reverend James E. Williams Jr., 82, of Harrisburg, died at 11:07 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020 at his residence.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2020 at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to the service time. The Rev. Jack Hall and the Rev. Roy Dale Orr will officiate. Burial will be in Blockhouse Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Shriners Children's Hospital.

He was born on June 8, 1938 in Omaha, Illinois to the late James and Virginia (Hancock) Williams Sr.

He married the former Margaret Bethel on June 10, 1956 and she survives.

He was a retired plumber and pipe fitter. He also pastored many churches in the area, including the Wasson Baptist Church, Walnut Grove Baptist Church near Harrisburg and New Castle Baptist Church, where he had been for the past 24 years.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Williams of Harrisburg; three children, Jim (Sherry) Williams, Sharon Williams and Connie Williams, all of Harrisburg; two sisters, Ramona Hilliard and Mary Patterson, both of Harrisburg; brother, Danny Williams of Lake of Egypt; grandchildren, Tiffany and Phil Nyberg, Jeremy Williams, and Kelsea and Nathaniel Harris; great-grandchildren, Rylan Nyberg, Brody Nyberg, Sebastian Williams, Max Engel, Zoey Williams, Ryder Harris and Alye Gibbons; and step-great-grandchildren Skye Casey and Oakley Harris.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Brandon Gibbons.
