James W. Parish of Harrisburg
James W. Parish, age 85, of Harrisburg, passed away at 11:55 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020, at St. Louis University Hospital.
James was born on June 2, 1935 in Harrisburg to the late John H. L. and Nellie (Sakovich) Parish. He married Judith "Judy" Pickering on June 30, 1956 and she preceded him in death on April 16, 2019.
James was an iron worker through Iron Workers Local No. 103 in Evansville, Indiana and later worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation.
James was a member of the Harrisburg Masonic Lodge No. 325, earning the degrees of Master Mason and the Scottish rite. He was also a member of the Shriners and a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. James was a hard worker and a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
James is survived by two daughters, Jamie Parish of Harrisburg and Stacey (Randy) Milligan of Harrisburg; five grandchildren, Amberlea (Jeremy) Ollis of Marion, Linsey (Matt) Wood of Ledbetter, Kentucky, Dallas Walker of Golconda, Mason (Erin) Milligan of Lexington, South Carolina and Matthew Milligan of Harrisburg; four great-grandchildren, Sebastion Fasolo of Harrisburg, Xander Fasolo of Ledbetter, Kentucky, Harlea Hull of Ledbetter, Kentucky and Skylynne Walker of Harrisburg; one great-great-grandchild, Xander Fasolo; sister, Bobbie (David) Dale of Shawneetown; sister, Maryann (Darrell) Evans of Shawneetown; sister-in-law Peggy Pickering of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents; wife Judy; brother, Richard Parish; brother-in-law, Bill Pickering; and brother-in-law, Joe Pickering.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ashley Carter, Julie Duvall, Renee Rann and the entire staff of Harrisburg Reflections Memory Care. They would also like to acknowledge and offer a special thanks to the Fulkerson family.
Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, 2020 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg. The Rev. Scott Johnson will officiate.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Reed Funeral Chapel.
