Wilma Walker, 100, of Du Quoin
Wilma Walker, 100, of Du Quoin, passed away at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at the Fairview Health and Rehabilitation Center in Du Quoin.
Wilma worked for the Illinois Central Railroad from 1943 until her retirement. She also worked for the Du Quoin State Fair. Wilma was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin. She was also a member of Eastern Star and the Du Quoin Garden Club.
She was born April 29, 1920 at Du Quoin, the daughter of Carl and Clara Myrtle (Terry) McMurray.
She married Walter A. Walker on Sept. 28, 1946 at Herrin, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 1986.
She is survived by one son, David Walker of Hannibal, Missouri.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Dean McMurray; and one sister, Venita Janello.
Graveside services will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin, with the Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.
Due to health concerns related to the COVID-19 virus and the executive order by Gov. J.B. Pritzker, attendance will be limited and social distancing will be enforced.
In Wilma's memory, friends are invited to make memorials to the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin. These will be accepted at the funeral home.
