Judith Ann (Estes) Murphy, formerly of Harrisburg
Judith Ann (Estes) Murphy, 81, succumbed to a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease and passed peacefully on June 22, 2019 at St. Peters Manor in St. Peters, Missouri.
She was born in Saline County on April 16, 1938, the daughter of the late Chester and Jewell (Duke) Estes of Harrisburg, where she grew up on South Ledford Street attending McKinley Avenue Grade School and graduated from Harrisburg High School Class of 1956.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Jewell; a sister, Ruby; and her brother, Jack.
She is survived by her husband, Richard of St. Charles, Missouri; son, Rick and daughter-in-law, Susan, of Cottleville, Missouri; two grandsons, Ethan Murphy and Elliott Murphy; three sisters, Sharon Johnson of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Carolyn Henshaw of Harrisburg and Pamela Adams of Flowery Branch, Georgia; and 19 nieces and nephews.
Judy enjoyed travel, shopping, slot machines, frozen margaritas, and spending time with family. She was member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church and Florissant Presbyterian Church in Florissant, Missouri where she served as a deacon. During her working career she held positions as an administrative assistant and executive secretary. She will be remembered as generous, fun loving and strong-willed.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Jerry Wells will officiate and burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. There will be a visitation prior to the funeral service from 11 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.
Visitation also will be at Newcomer Funeral Home, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25.
