Kermit Teddy Coffee of Harrisburg
Kermit Teddy Coffee, age 88, a resident of Harrisburg, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at his residence.
He was born Nov. 29, 1929 in Eldorado to the late Bertis Lee and Lanta Velon (Turner) Coffee. Kermit married Betty Williams in 1948 and she preceded him in death in 2000. He then married Donna (Day) Williams and she survives.
Kermit was a member of Harrisburg First Christian Church where he was also an elder. He worked at the General Assistance Office in Harrisburg, and was Saline County Board chairman for many years.
Survivors include his wife Donna Coffee of Harrisburg; three children, Curtis (Sandy) Coffee of Arcadia, Florida, James(Susan) Coffee of Bartlett, and Kelly (Jim) Giffin of St. Elmo; three stepchildren, Steve (Debbie) Williams of Marion, Vickie (Wendell) Penrod of Benton, and Debra K. Williams of Harrisburg; six grandchildren, Paul (Jennifer) Coffee of Edwards, Melissa (Marc) Elder of Omaha, Nebraska, Jamie (Jennifer) Coffee of Texas, Ryan (Rachel) Coffee of Chicago, Andrew (Ashley) Maynor of Alton, and Jacob Griffin with the U.S. Army in Fort Riley, Kansas; three step-grandchildren, Douglas (Nikki) Williams of Harrisburg, Stephanie (Brian) Smith of Marion, and Jason Penrod of Indianapolis; and eight great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by special friends Keith Dismuke, Raymond Brindley and Kathy and Walden Morris.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, July 30, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg with the Rev. Biff Moore officiating. Burial will be in Raleigh Masonic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at Reed Funeral Chapel.
