Mary Ann Abell, formerly of Ridgway
Mary Ann Abell, 89, formerly of Belleville, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020 at Heritage Health in Staunton.
She was born in Ridgway on Oct. 9, 1930 to the late James W. and Estella Wentzel Abell. She graduated from Ridgway High School and worked as a typist for Gallatin County Abstract and Title Co. for 20 years.
She moved to Belleville and worked as a bookkeeper for Chicago Title and Trust for 27 years until she retired.
She was a member of St. Kateri Tekawitha Catholic Church in Ridgway and St. Luke Church in Belleville. She was a former member of Daughters of Isabella in Ridgway and Belleville and Zonta Club in Belleville. She enjoyed playing bingo and dancing with friends.
Mary Ann is survived by two brothers, Bill (Donna) Abell of Eldorado and Larry (Rose) Abell of Bridgeport; three sisters, Pat Boulds of Eldorado, Connie (Jim) Roemelin of Hillsboro and Carolyn (Dal) Divine of Bunker Hill; two sisters-in-law, Helen Abell of Junction and Anita Abell of Winchester, Virginia; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Martin John Abell, Philip Kenneth Abell, Donald Louis Abell and Jacob Henry Abell (in infancy); two sisters, Dorothy Lee Hudspeth and Helen Ruth Maloney; three brothers-in-law, Bill Boulds, Bill Maloney, and Don Hudspeth; one sister-in-law, Carleen Abell; and five nephews and one niece, Christopher Abell, Bobby Abell, Wesley Abell, Andrew Maloney, Payton Hill and Dylan Roemelin.
Visitation for Mary Ann will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18 until funeral Mass time of 11 a.m. at the St. Kateri Catholic Church in Ridgway with Father Steven Beatty as Celebrant. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery near Ridgway.
Vickery Funeral Chapel of Ridgway is in charge of the funeral service.
