Tom Durkee of Chester

Tom Durkee, 68, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 6:27 a.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021 at his residence.

He was born to the late Jack and Mildred "Mickey" (nee Bendel) Durkee on Dec. 5, 1952 in Chester. He married Charleene Gamblin on Jan. 18, 1997 in Chester, and she survives.

Tom was an electrical superintendent for Honeywell Intelligrated in Mason, Ohio for 10 years. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Operating Engineers #318.

He is survived by his wife, Charleene Durkee of Chester; three children, William (Megan) Kasel of Oakland, California, Brittani Hughes of Chester and Roy (Janna) Durkee of Covington, Indiana; six grandchildren, Isabella, Sophia, Trevor, Lily, Jack, and Maverick; and one great-granddaughter, Willow.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Melvin Mueller and Willard "Bud" Mueller.

The funeral service will begin at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2021 at Pechacek Funeral Homes, in Chester, with Dr. Mike Fogerson officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, prior to the funeral at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester.

The funeral home is limited to 50 people inside at one time. Visitors are asked to wear masks and to use social distancing guidelines.

Inurnment will be held at a later date at Cedar Fork Cemetery in Perryville, Missouri. Memorials in Tom Durkee's name are asked to go to the family, to be used at their discretion.
