Junior Jacket runners compete well at Pinckneyville, Murphysboro

The Chester Grade School Cross Country Team has been competing well this fall under the guidance of Head Coach Jennifer Cartwright and Assistant Coach Niki McConnell.

The 2020 Junior Jackets have 13 runners, eight boys and five girls.

"With all of the COVID issues we have had difficulty getting runners at all of the meets at one time," Cartwright said. "But those who are showing up are running well, having fun and getting better at every meet."

To date CGS has competed at three meets; twice at Pinckneyville and once at Murphysboro. Cartwright said their competitors have the same recruiting problems as CGS does, "but everyone is having fun and learning to run well."
