Cervantez holds lead for Jackson County state's attorney
UPDATED 11/04/2020 @ 6:58 a.m.
Voters in Jackson County appear to be looking for change in the state's attorney's office.
With 56 of 56 precincts reporting, voters overwhelmingly supported Republican Joe Cervantez. Cervantez would replace incumbent Michael "Mike" Carr, a Democrat who has served since 2012 and before that had a long career as a federal prosecutor.
With all precincts reporting, Cervantez has 11,541 votes to Carr's 10,294.
Cervantez, a partner at the Law Firm of Tetzlaff, Cervantez and Associates, P.C., is a former assistant state's attorney in Williamson County.
Current vote totals may not yet include all ballots cast in this election, and they won't be final until canvassed by elections officials.
