Patrick O. 'Hippe' Heptinstall

Patrick O. "Hippe" Heptinstall, age 66, of Harrisburg, passed away Monday, Aug. 2, 2021 at home.

Patrick was born on Oct. 23, 1954 in Selma, Alabama to A.O. (Dale) and Annette (Calhoun) Heptinstall.

Patrick never met a stranger and many looked to him for advice. He had an extensive career in the construction industry. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Local 83, Kansas City, Missouri for over 40 years.

All companies and workers knew him only as "Hippe." He worked many years as a consultant for energy conservation. He worked in the forefront of clean air technologies and air pollution control. He traveled from Nova Scotia to the copper mines of Chile, to the oldest independent state in the Arab world, Oman.

Hippe enjoyed many things, from his Harley, horses, golfing, fishing and most of all, spending time with family and friends. He was a huge fan of Alabama college football and the Kansas City Chiefs.

On June 15, 1995 he married Beth A. Womack of Harrisburg. This union brought together a family of five children: Jason Womack and Becky Logan of Harrisburg; Hunter Womack of Harrisburg; Patrice and Brian Kelly of Lecompton, Kansas; Dee and Josh Hitchcock of Platte City, Missouri; and Patrick and Lindsay Heptinstall of Osage City, Kansas.

There are also nine grandchildren: Austin, Tristian and Hanna Kelly; Jillian Womack; Caden and Chase Hitchcock; and Maddie, Grace and Rowdy Heptinstall. The are six great-grandchildren; one sister, Pamela VanTyle of Overland Park, Kansas; brothers-in-law, Kevin (Sharon) Turner, Keith Turner (Angel Ferrel), Kenny Turner, Randy Feazel, John David Feazel (Lisa Travelstead), and Mike Womack; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Patrick was preceded in death by his mother and father; and brother-in-law, Brian Scott Womack.
