Sharon Ann Polivick, formerly of Du Quoin

Sharon Ann (McCollum) Polivick, 76, of West End, North Carolina and formerly of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:35 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 28, 2020 at the First Health Moore County Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Sharon had trained as a medical assistant and technician. She was the #1 Best Homemaker. Sharon was involved in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Sharon was a member of the Eastern Star and Moore County Senior Enrichment Center at West End. She was a St. Louis Cardinal fan and loved playing cards, especially pinochle.

She was born May 26, 1944 at Elkville, Illinois, the daughter of Edgar Lewis and Cassie (Bourland) McCollum.

Sharon married Joe L. Polivick Jr. on June 21, 1962 at St. Louis, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 2013.

She is survived by her son, Alan Louis Polivick of West End, North Carolina; her daughter, Michelle Ann (Polivick) Cooper Dyer of Sanford, North Carolina; a son-in-law. Timothy Campbell Dyer of Sanford; granddaughter Hannah Nicole Cooper of Raleigh, North Carolina; and a brother, Lester Wayne McCollum of Hartselle, Alabama.

Sharon was preceded in death by her mother, Cassie (Bourland) McCollum Zan Zuchi; her father, Edgar Lewis McCollum; a daughter, Kathryn Ann Polivick; and an aunt, Betty J. (McCollum) Williams.

Graveside services will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020 at the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin, with Fr. Joseph Oganda officiating.

Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois plan allows up to 50 attendees at graveside, all practicing social distancing and wearing masks.

Friends are invited to make memorials to the Moore County Senior Enrichment Center, 8040 NC Hwy 15 501, West End, NC 27376, which will be accepted at the funeral home.
