Justine Almon of Marion
Justine M. Almon, 99, of Marion, formerly of Bradley, Illinois, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2020 at 9:27 p.m. at Parkway Manor in Marion.
Justine was born March 23, 1921, in Chicago, the daughter of John and Frances (Tescari) Lupato. She married Paul Almon on September 2, 1939, in Chicago, and together they shared over 62 years of marriage until his death in March 2002.
She retired from Bliss & Laughlen Steel, where she was a telephone operator. Justine was an advocate and fundraiser for the Glenwood School for Boys. She loved to talk and crochet. In 2007 she moved to Marion as she loved to spend time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Margaret Almon, six granddaughters, Carrie (Gene) Watson, Tracy (Bud) Scott, Cindy Almon, Judy (Patrick) Claybrook, Charlene Savarino, and Michele (Rich) Novak, and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by her parents, her husband, Paul Almon, two sons, Woodrow Almon and Gerald Almon, and one brother.
As per her wishes, Mrs. Almon will be cremated. Burial will be in St. Casimir's Lithuanian Cemetery in Chicago at a later date.
Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
