No Du Quoin community Thanksgiving service in 2020
The Du Quoin Ministerial Alliance called off the 2020 community Thanksgiving service, worried about bringing residents together under the threat of COVID-19.
Pastor Lon McPherson of Liberty Church said the Alliance is hoping to bring the service back next year, always full of music, praise and spiritual uplift.
The interdenominational service is the work of member churches in the Alliance, who all take part in the service and give members of their congregations a chance to worship as a community, and hear voices from other churches in Du Quoin besides their own.
Churches in Du Quoin have been largely back in session since May, although many of them continue to host virtual services as well, for the more vulnerable members of their congregations.
