Marie E. Hecktor, formerly of Chester
Marie E. Hecktor, 103, of Perryville, Missouri and formerly of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Independence Care Center in Perryville.
She was born to the late John and Mary (nee Nowak) Surman on April 22, 1917 in Chester.
Marie married Leander Hecktor on Nov. 6, 1935 in Chester, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1976.
Marie was a homemaker. She was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Chester, and also a member of the Blessed Virgin Altar Sodality.
She is survived by her son, Gary (Peggy) Hecktor of Lake Ozark, Missouri; her daughter, Carole (Leonard) Draves of Desoto, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Wahlwend and Marcella Eggemeyer, both of Chester; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and two more due in October and November; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her son, Robert Hecktor; eight brothers, Mark, John, Joseph, Thaddeus, Sylvester, Edward, Bernard and Daniel Surman; three sisters, Catherine Veath, Victoria Grah and Gertrude Scofield; three brothers-in-law and five sisters-in-law.
The funeral service for Marie Hecktor will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2020 at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester, with the Rev. Ben Chapman officiating.
Interment will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Chester.
Visitation will be held for an hour prior to the service, from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester.
The Phase 4 rules of the Restore Illinois plan permit no more than 50 people in the building at a time. Everyone attending is asked to wear a face covering and practice social distancing.
