Charles L. McGee of Chester
Charles L. McGee, 88, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 7:20 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2020 at Memorial Hospital in Chester.
He was born to the late George W. and Nellie C. (nee Johnson) McGee on Jan. 30, 1932 in Chester.
Charles married Betty M. Berry on June 8, 1961 in Danville, Illinois; she survives.
He was a Care Pastor at Grace Church Ministries in Chester for 14 years, and was also a member.
Charles is survived by his wife, Betty McGee of Chester; his son, Charles (Tania) McGee of Hamden, Connecticut; his daughter, Christina (Steve) Keim of Ellis Grove; a granddaughter, Sharon (Tarique) Rodgers; two great-grandchildren, Anaya and Elijah Rodgers; five brothers, Don (Dorothy) McGee of Paris, Illinois, Glenn (Sue) McGee of Chester, Bill (Connie) McGee of Springfield, Walter (Joyce) McGee of Chester and Jerry McGee of Bolingbrook; two sisters, Doris Williams of Chester and Mary (Louis) Slaughter of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Edna McGee of Florida and Janet McGee of Indianapolis, Indiana; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, George and James McGee.
It was Charles's wish to be cremated.
A memorial service for Charles McGee will begin at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 19 at Grace Church Ministries, 2100 State St., in Chester, officiated by Pastor Ron Coleman.
Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 3 to 5 p.m., also at Grace Church Ministries.
