Pet of the Week: Petey is just a big lover boy

This adorable guy is Petey. He was found running at large and ended up at our shelter. We just can't imagine why he wasn't reclaimed - he is the sweetest guy ever and has quickly melted our hearts.

Petey is a boxer-bulldog mix that we believe to be around 8 years old. He is dog-friendly, kid-friendly, and just a big lover boy! He gives every indication of being housebroken.

With his age, he came with some health issues that we've addressed, and we continue to address some allergy problems he's having. Petey has experienced repeated ear infections that we recently learned is likely due to allergies. He is now on a special diet and time will tell if this is going to help.

In the meantime, we want to post Petey as a foster-to-adopt situation. We believe that Petey would be much better in a home environment where we can monitor him more closely, but we plan to keep him in foster status until his allergies are managed well.

If you have a place in your heart and home for this sweet boy, please contact us.

Please know that if you come to meet any of the dogs at our facility, they may be excited to see you and extra active. Many times, this is not a true picture of how they may act in a warm, safe home setting.

We, as volunteers, often take our shelter dogs on home visits and they become calm and act like completely different animals. This pertains to potty habits and demeanor. Please realize that they need a chance to shine out of the shelter setting!

If you have any specific questions about Petey, email the shelter volunteer at pchsinfo@yahoo.com or go to www.perrycountyhumanesocietyil.com to apply.
