Earl Grange Kinley of Johnston City

Earl Grange Kinley, 71, of Johnston City, passed away at 3:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion with his loving wife by his side.

Earl was born Nov. 10, 1950 in Herrin to Luther Holland and Bonnie Jean (Smith) Kinley. He married Alisa Jones on April 6, 1990 in Herrin.

Earl was retired, having been employed by the VA Medical Center in Marion.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served his country during the Vietnam War.

Earl attended the First United Methodist Church in Johnston City. He was a 1969 graduate of Johnston City High School. He later graduated from Rend Lake College with a Construction Management degree.

Earl enjoyed fishing and taking his son to Bleyer Lake in Carbondale. He also enjoyed going on cruises with his wife and attending the Smith Family Reunion eaWch year. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family each year.

Earl is survived by his wife, Alisa Kinley of Johnston City; four children, Norman Burley, Sabrina Burley, Dustin (Heather Bolte) Burley all of Johnston City, and Karen (George) Tomanovich of West Frankfort; six grandchildren, Andre Bradley and Lauren Bradley of Johnston City, Dustin (Amy) Tomanovich of St. Charles, Missouri, Justin Tomanovich of West Frankfort, Ashley (Jonathan) Zappa of West Frankfort and George Michael Tomanovich of West Frankfort; eight great-grandchildren, Noah, Evan and Gizelle Tomanovich, Harley and Leah Jennings, Isabella Zappa and Jalen and Payton Tomanovich; a sister, Jean Ann Ray of Johnston City; several sisters-in-law, Bettie Kinley of Johnston City, Donna Slaughter of Marion, Janice Cobb of Marion, Christine Cripps of Johnston City; Debbie (Dave) Maasson of Cummings, Georgia, Carol (Rudy) Loyd of Marion and Becky (Ron) Peters of Whiteash. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Kinley; sister- and brother-in-law, Barbara and Marvin Ray Beers Sr. and brother-in-law, Harry Ray Jr.

Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City is entrusted with the arrangements.

Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022 at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Robbey Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery with military honors accorded by Marion VFW Post #1301 and the U.S. Navy Memorial Honors Team.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are invited to the Johnston City Little League Baseball and Softball program or to the Manna Mission. Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Due to health concerns related to the COVID-19 virus and by the signing of an executive order by the Illinois governor, those attending the visitation must wear masks and socially distance from others.
