Charles William Francis III, formerly of Du Quoin

Charles William Francis, III, 55, of Johnston City, formerly of Du Quoin, passed away at 5:46 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Herrin Hospital.

Charles was born June 5, 1962 at Herrin, the son of Charles and Kathryn (Hooker) Francis Jr.

He married Marilyn Reid on March 10, 1984.

Chuckie was a bassist and played in numerous bands through the years, some of which were Dark Star, M80, Scarlett Thread, Pecos Stone and Trauma. Chuckie was working for Crownline in West Frankfort in prototyping.

Survivors include three sons and one daughter: Charles William Jeremiah Francis IV of Evansville, Indiana; Elijah Wayne V. Reid Francis of Pinckneyville; Andrea Rochelle Lynn Francis of Carbondale and Isaiah Nicholas Bennett Francis of Du Quoin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, the Rev. Wayne and Nancy Reid.

Per his wishes, cremation services were held.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2018 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
