Du Quoin Caring Tree Helps Senior Citizens
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ This year, the Du Quoin Junior Woman's Club is providing some very needy seniors with some Christmas cheer.
It has come to the Junior Woman's Club's attention that some seniors are doing without some of the basic things in life.
It is the club's goal to see that all people are able to enjoy life this wonderful season.
Residents are asked to stop by one of the area's banks and pick a name off the trees. Due to the anonymity some of the sizes are not known.
In that case if you would like to provide items such as socks, hose, house shoes, books, puzzle books, handkerchiefs, toilet paper, Kleenex, soap, lotions, hair spray, shampoo and conditioner, snacks or non-perishable foods.
Pick your tags up at the three Du Quoin banks--Regions Bank, Du Quoin State Bank or Regions Bank. The Junior Woman's Club asks that items be turned in by Friday, December 12, 2008.
There are approximately 80 tags on the trees.
You can also send a cash donation to support this project. Mail it to Du Quoin Junior Woman's Club at PO Box 276, Du Quoin, Illinois 62832.
These seniors are grateful to receive anything. Just to be thought of at the holidays is very heart warming to them.
If you would like to buy a gift certificate so they may get clothing or their own food that would be great, too.
