</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Betty L. Wood, 84, of Pana, Illinois died Saturday, May, 19, at 10:20 a.m. in her residence after an extended illness.
Memorial services will be, Saturday, June, 9 at 2:30 pm at Kennedy & Sons Funeral Home, Pana, Illinois.
Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 9 at Kennedy & Sons Funeral Home, Pana, Illinois. Inurnment will be in Mound Cemetery, Pana, Illinois.
Betty L. Wood was born Thursday, March 8 1928, in Harrodsburg, Indiana, the daughter of Everett and Jessie (maiden name Edwards) Laughlin. Her family moved from Indiana to Illinois when she was very young. Betty attended Pana schools and was a graduate of Pana Township High School, class of 1946. She graduated secretarial school and was employed as a professional secretary throughout her life.
On Dec. 21, 1951 she was united in marriage to Donald O. Wood in Pana, Illinois. Donald died June 3, 2004. Betty was the published author of two books of poetry and several articles printed in various periodicals including Readers Digest.
She is survived by three sons, Bradley D. Wood of Pana, Ill., Mitchell Wood of Ohlman, Ill. and Brent A. Wood and spouse Malinda of Ohlman, Ill.; grandson, Caleb Wood; granddaughters, Abagail Wood and Emily Wood and grandson, Michael Linn of Pana Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Gary and William Laughlin and a sister, Pauline Higginbotham.
