Memorial Hospital receives 5-star ranking

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has rated Memorial Hospital of Chester a five-star hospital.

The ranking is based on patient surveys collected in 2019 by the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems. Only 12 hospitals in Illinois and 266 in the U.S. won a coveted five-star ranking.

The HCAHPS survey was given to a random sample of adult patients across all types of medical conditions between 48 hours and six weeks post discharge. It asked patients to rate communication, discharge and care transition and their environment, and then provide an overall ranking.

Memorial Hospital scored above average in communication, staff assistance and attentiveness, discharge information, and overall ratings.
