Patricia A. Schulte of Chester
Patricia A. Schulte, 89, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 6:40 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 26, 2020 at the Manor at Craig Farms in Chester.
She was born to the late Stephen and Lena (nee Bessen) Grott on Sept. 24, 1931 in Chester.
Patricia married Calvin G. Schulte on June 20, 1959 in Chester; he preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 2007.
She owned Pat's Shoe Store and Men's Shoe Center in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She then worked for and retired from the Census Bureau for Jefferson and Marion counties.
Patricia was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Chester. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Chester.
She is survived by two sons, Rick L. (Mary Kaye) Schulte of Sugarland, Texas and Mark K. (Leah) Schulte of Tampa, Florida; daughter Elizabeth "Beth" (Tom) Moore of Marshall, Illinois; two siblings, Dale Grott of Chester and Bonita (Gary) Towers of Freeburg, Illinois; three sisters-in-law, Mary Anne Grott, Maxine Wilson and Dona Schulte; seven grandchildren, Kelly (Jesse) Sumner, Amy Schulte, Peter (Anita) Schulte, Amanda Schulte, Kathryn (Brad) Visser, Madalyn Moore and Lindsey Moore; and three great-grandchildren, Madison Collins, Brody Collins and Owen Sumner.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Donald (Dorothy) Grott, Lowell "Butch" (Betty) Grott and Kenneth Grott; her sister, Emogene "Tiny" (Elroy) Cushman; six sisters-in-law, Alice Grott, Leona (Emmet) Hoffman, Lyndola (Floyd) Hudson, Euline (Patrick) Schutte, Thelma (Tony) Stark and Dorothy (Charlie) Walls; and five brothers-in-law, Henry "Jip" (Thad) Schulte Jr., Jesse (Oreta) Schulte, Melvin "Jack" Schulte, Edward "Toby" Schulte and Ray Wilson.
A private funeral Mass will be held at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Chester, with Father Iuvenius Iheme officiating.
Public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29 and 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 30 at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Chester.
The funeral home is limited by COVID-19 restrictions to 25 people in the building at a time. Visitors are asked to wear masks and use social distancing guidelines.
Memorials in Patricia's name may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Mary's Catholic School in Chester.
