Roger David Harrison of Du Quoin
Roger David Harrison, age 86, of Du Quoin, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Roger was born on Nov. 22, 1935 in Murphysboro, Illinois to James Elsworth and Florence Edna (Hart) Harrison. He was the last of five children born to this union.
Roger was in the U.S. Navy submarine service and was a Korean War veteran. After his time in the service he attended William and Mary College, where he majored in business. Roger was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin. He was a member of Du Quoin VFW and American Legion.
Roger married Glenna Marie McClanahan-Stacey on April 16, 1968 and she survives.
Roger and Glenna had 12 children: Kevin Lee and wife Carol (McMurray) Stacey of Du Quoin; David Clay and wife Kristine (George) Harrison of Du Quoin; Karen "Elizabeth" (Stacey) and husband Bruce Humphreys of Elkville; Kevin Ray and wife Denise (Whitley) Harrison of Du Quoin; Donnie Wayne Harrison of Elkville; Kelly Marie Stacey of Du Quoin; Kent Ray Stacey of Du Quoin; Melissa Lou (Harrison) and husband Gene Gilliam of Du Quoin; Marcella Sue (Harrison) and husband Les Robison of Mulkeytown; and Julie Ann (Harrison) and husband Chad Griffin of Du Quoin.
Roger and Glenna had 32 grandchildren: Kevin Michael Stacey; Devin Lee Stacey and Amber; Kaitlyn Marie Stacey; Craig Alan and wife Rachel (Newbury) Stacey; Ashley Lax; Joshua Trey Harrison; Chuckie Alan Payne and Morgan Dennis; Lauren Elizabeth (Payne) and husband Hayden Hicks; Miranda Payne; Sarah Marie (Humphreys) and husband Justin Emery; Seth Thomas and wife Britney (Baney) Humphreys; Christopher Ryan and wife Colby Harrison; Trenton Ray Harrison; Katrina Nicole (Harrison) and husband Gabriel Worthen; Matthew Dale and wife Leah (Phillips) Williams; Ryan Linze and wife Airika (Galli) Williams; Kyle Whitley and wife Cami Williams; Buddy Travis and wife Jami (Cochran) Siebert; Tyler Adonis Harrison; Dillan Kent and wife Christina (Neff) Stacey; Chelsea Dawn Stacey; Lacey Danielle Dusch; Alexandra Jane (Dusch) and husband Bryan Eisenhauer; Jacob Raymond Dusch; Jamison Crowell and wife Michaela (Brown) Davis; Aubrey Marie (Davis) and husband Dustin Winter; Katherine Anna Robison; Madeline Grace Robison; Erin Nicole Eubanks; Blaine Allen Griffin and Kelsey Lamke; Taylor Jordan Griffin; and Delainey Marie Griffin.
There are also 53 great-grandchildren.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather Bill Miller; in-laws Raymond "Jick" and Erma (Richerson) McClanahan; brother Bille James Harrison in infancy; brother Donald Francis and wife Connie (Ellis) Harrison; sister Wilma Jean (Harrison) Reaves; sister Ellen Jane (Harrison) Aldridge; brother-in-law Raymond Edward McClanahan; brother-in-law Joseph Bruce McClanahan; sister-in-law Gaye (Wright) McClanahan; brother-in-law Steven Kent McClanahan; brother-in-law Timothy Nils McClanahan; son Kenny Wayne Stacey; daughter Kristina Lynn Stacey; and a great-grandson in infancy.
Funeral services will begin at 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 24, 2022 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with the Rev. Joe Wagner officiating. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Please use social distancing guidelines, and everyone in attendance is required to wear a mask.
Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at a later date, with military graveside honors.
In lieu of flowers and other gifts, the family suggests that memorials be made in Roger's name to The Kris Stacey Memorial Scholarship fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
