Racing buggies on tough terrain 35 drivers compete in wild event

The second "rock bouncer" event in Saline County this year was another success, organizer Casey Perkins says.

Perkins organized the first such event, in which racers drive highly modified racing buggies over extreme terrain, earlier this spring. That event attracted around 2,000 people.

While Perkins said last weekend's event was not as large a draw, it still proved popular.

"We had 35 drivers, and had 270 to 300 come to see it," Perkins said of last weekend's race, brought by Outlaw Off Road Racing LLC.

The two events have gotten enough attention from people traveling to the county to watch that Perkins said he is planning two events for 2022.

"I am working on two more bouncer events next year and it will be at a new location in Saline Country," he said. "And there is some talk going on about having a 'Mud Fest' still this year. Overall, it was a great race."
