David Gene 'Super Dave' Malcolm of Pinckneyville

David Gene "Super Dave" Malcolm, age 58, of Pinckneyville, Illinois, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

David was born in Creal Springs on June 5, 1962, and was raised as the son of Walter and Mabel (Trotter) Sims. He married Dorothea Watson in Pinckneyville on Oct. 25, 2017, and she survives.

David, being a jack-of-all-trades, was known by his family to be a Mr. Fix-It. In his spare time, he was an avid fisherman. He was a compassionate man, which showed in his love of animals and his many rescues, whom he proudly gave a forever home. He loved and cherished his family, and they could always count on him to "have their back." He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothea Malcolm of Pinckneyville; stepsons Thomas James Hisaw of Bend, Oregon, Harley Joe (Tara Cornwall) of Salem, Oregon and Brandon Chase Cornwall of Pinckneyville; step-grandson, Victor Sebastian Cornwall of Salem, Oregon; daughter, Holly Roberts of Du Quoin; sisters Louise (Stanley) Mathis of Pinckneyville and Dawn (Mike) Umberger of Herrin; brother, Charles (Sandra) Sims of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; his birth mother, Georgia Ferrell of Marion; several nieces and nephews; and the rescued furbabies he cherished.

David was preceded in death by his parents who raised him; two brothers, Walter Eugene Sims and Herman Earl Sims; one sister, Linda Kay Cantrell; and his birth father, Joseph Curtis Malcolm.
