Perry County sentences
Perry County State's Attorney David H. Searby, Jr., announced the following sentences to the Illinois Department of Corrections during August 2020.
Gale J. Laffoon, 52, of Du Quoin, was sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections after having admitted to a Petition to Revoke Probation for the original offense of burglary, a Class 2 felony, on Aug. 3, 2020.
Laffoon was sentenced to four years, with applicable credit for time previously served and with a two-year mandatory supervised release period. The Du Quoin Police Department was responsible for the investigation and arrest in the Laffoon matter.
Melissa M. Zamora, 39, of Murphysboro, was sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections after having pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony and driving while license revoked, a Class 4 felony, on Aug. 14, 2020.
Zamora was sentenced to two years, with applicable credit for time previously served and with a one-year mandatory supervised release period. The Illinois State Police, with assistance from the Du Quoin Police Department, was responsible for the investigation and arrest in the Zamora matter.
Daniel W. Eaton, 53, of Du Quoin, was sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections after having previously pleaded guilty to the offense of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, a Class 2 felony, and pleading guilty to two counts of delivery of methamphetamine, Class 2 felonies, on Aug. 20, 2020.
Eaton was sentenced to three years and six months on the possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine charge, and four years and six months on the delivery of methamphetamine charges, with those sentences to run consecutive and with applicable credit for time previously served. Both sentences also carry a two-year mandatory supervised release period.
The Du Quoin Police Department was responsible for the arrest and investigation in the possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine charge and the Perry County Drug Task Force, comprised of the Du Quoin and Pinckneyville police departments and the Perry County Sheriff's Office, was responsible for investigating the delivery of methamphetamine charges.
Maggie M. Spurlock, 22, of Du Quoin, was sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections after having previously admitted to a petition to revoke probation for the original offense of possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony, on Aug. 27, 2020.
Spurlock was sentenced to four years with applicable credit for time previously served, and with a one-year mandatory supervised release period. The Pinckneyville Police Department was responsible for the investigation and arrest in the Spurlock matter.
Robert D. Frye, 23, of Johnston City, was sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections after having pleaded guilty to the offense of aggravated battery, a Class 2 felony, and disarming a correctional institution employee (attempt), a Class 2 Felony, on Aug. 28, 2020.
Frye was sentenced to a concurrent 10 years, with applicable credit for time previously served, and with a two-year mandatory supervised release period. The Perry County Sheriff's Office was responsible for investigating the Frye matter.
