$1,500 for Miss Mardi Gras 2008

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ The Pinckneyville Chamber of Commerce is proud to sponsor the annual Miss Mardi Gras pageant to be held Saturday, October 11th, at the Pinckneyville Junior High School on East Water Street in Pinckneyville. Tickets will be available at the door, $7.00 for adults, students K - 12 will be $4.00 and children under 5 admitted free. The event will begin at 7 p.m. with competitions in the areas of stage appearance, interview, swimwear, and evening gown. Candidates from Marion, Cobden, Energy, Okawville, Pinckneyville, and Carbondale will be vying for the crown of Miss Mardi Gras 2008. Special entertainment will be provided.

The overall Pinckneyville Mardi Gras Scholarship pageant winner will take home a $1,500 scholarship award, while the second, third, fourth and fifth place winners take home $500, $250, $100 and $50 respectively.

Prizes will also be awarded for Miss Photogenic, Spirit of Mardi Gras and Miss Mask-erade.

Miss Mask-erade is a special category unique to this event. Each candidate is ask to decorate an unadorned black masquerade-style party mask and is expected to demonstrate creativity and the spirit of the event in decorating it.
