</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[No fewer than 15 large Ameren trucks encircled Alongi's Restaurant in downtown Du Quoin Monday at 8 p.m. as line crews called into Du Quoin Monday from Sunday's storm called it a day. Their focus was power outages that left many Du Quoin residents in the dark for 32 hours or more. The largest outages were the result of trees falling through power lines on North Division Street near Perry Street and East Park Street just west of North Line Street. The morning started off badly on North Division as linemen hit a gas line while setting a replacement pole. Power was disrupted at about 9 a.m. Sunday for most as they readied for church. Some had power restored shortly before 4 p.m. that same day. Others had to wait on construction crews which didn't pull into Du Quoin from Sparta until around 9:30 a.m. Monday. Raised bucket arms of no fewer than seven line trucks were still working on East Park Street at 6 p.m. Monday. Jeff Oestricher of B & J Outdoor Power Equipment says the shop sharpened at least 25 chains during the day, repaired between six and eight saws and sold several new chainsaws as well.
