Lady Panthers Challenge Nashville, Du Quoin Falls
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ In nail-biting fashion, River-to-River Conference pre-season volleyball favorite Nashville managed to escape Perry County with a victory Tuesday night.
The Hornettes edged past improving Pinckneyville in three rugged games to open Mississippi Division play. Scores were 24-26, 25-23 and 25-18.
Pinckneyville (5-7) visits Du Quoin Thursday night.
Mandi Kellerman paced the Lady Panthers with 14 kills and four blocks while Elizabeth Wittmer was 13-for-13 serving.
Haleigh Hagood (15-for-16) was also strong at the line.
PCHS rallied to win game one and led 23-22 late in the second contest before Nashville rallied to win with the final three points of the match.
In game three, Nashville jumped an early 6-0 edge and PCHS never led.
Nashville also won the junior varsity and varsity matches.
DU QUOIN VOLLEYBALL
At Chester, the Lady Indians fell 25-23, 17-25, 25-12 to open SIRR play.
