Victory Slips from Elverado's Grasp

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ A five-point third game lead slipped from the grasp of Elverado High School's Girls Volleyball team Tuesday night.

The Lady Falcons, 6-3, enjoyed a 15-10 edge over Crab Orchard during the decisive portion of the match-but then struggled at the service line.

Missing four of six serves down the stretch, EHS dropped 25-15, 22-25 and 23-25 decisions for its second loss against Crab Orchard in four days.

Wednesday, the Lady Falcons visit Woodlawn.

"We need to learn to finish," Elverado coach Donette Wheatley said. "We won the second game and didn't miss a serve. We have to do that all the time."

Mallory Winthrop and Kelsey Tuthill each had 10 points for Elverado with Julia Bost adding nine.

As a team, the Lady Falcons were 64-for-70 with Katie Watts scoring three aces. Bost had nine assists with Winthrop topping things at the net (8 kills, 6 blocks, 2 digs).

In the junior varsity match, EHS (5-5) lost 9-25 and 15-25.
