Planting Memories
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Elverado High School senior Scott Rosenberg was playing catcher during baseball practice in March of 2003 when he was struck by a baseball and passed away. As a memorial for Scott, a tree was planted just outside the biology classroom.
During one of the recent storms, Scott's tree was knocked over. As a unanimous decision by the biology II class, Carol Jorgenson and her students began to make arrangements to plant a new tree for Scott.
At the same time, the class decided to plant a tree at the other north corner of the school for Will Wright, a senior who had an auto accident on his way to basketball practice in November 2005.
The trees were purchased and donated by Circle K and Vergennes Equipment, and were even sold at a bargain price by the retailer. Even some students from the biology II class donated some of their own money, in addition to the hard work that was necessary to plant the trees.
The Elverado Booster Club will also be paying for a plaque for each tree as a memorial.
Students in the biology II class that had a part in the project were Landry Arnett, Grant Choate, Jenna Cochran, Chelsey Crow, Hillary Dinkins, Liz Falter, Allie Griest, Rachel Hunziker, Mercedes Leek, Adrian Lingle, Arika Mace, Gary McCormick, Tad Morgan, Courtney Morse, Morgan Provoe, Jenna Rendleman, Nikki Skidmore, Landon Stewart, Nick Ticer, Kelsey Tuthill, Lacy Waller and Travis Williams.
