Miss Mardi Gras Pageant is Saturday
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ The Pinckneyville Chamber of Commerce is proud to sponsor the annual Miss Mardi Gras pageant to be held Saturday, October 11th, at 7 p.m. at the Pinckneyville Jr. High School on East Water. Tickets at the door are $7 for adults, students K - 12 will be $4 and children under 5 admitted free.
There are competitions in stage appearance, interview, swimwear, and evening gown. Candidates from Marion, Cobden, Energy, Okawville, Pinckneyville, and Carbondale are competing for a $1,500 scholarship award, while the second, third, fourth and fifth place winners take home $500, $250, $100 and $50 respectively.
Prizes will also be awarded for Miss Photogenic, Spirit of Mardi Gras and Miss Mask-erade. Each candidate is asked to decorate an unadorned black masquerade-style party mask and is expected to demonstrate creativity and the spirit of the event in decorating it.
